Growing up the only chia seeds ( Salvia hispanica) I heard of were part of a novelty gift set that came along with a catchy song ( Go ahead sing it…chi chi chi chia!). We have since then learned to use those amazing Omega-3 filled seeds for a much better purpose… Our nutrition. Chia seeds are rich in Calcium, Iron and Magnesium just to name a few nutrients and more importantly they help you feel fuller longer! As a gym rat I understand that we have to eat every 2-3 hours and no one like a HANGRY gym rat. Here’s a sweet spin on chi chi chi chia seeds!
- 1 Cup of Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk
- 1/2 Cup Chia Seeds
- 2 Teaspoons Raw Local Honey
- 1/4 Teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
- 1/4 Cup Pureed Mangoes ( or fruit of choice.
Soak seeds in almond milk for approximately 15-20 minutes or until it starts to resemble tapioca pudding. Stir in pureed mango and vanilla extract. Garnish with your favorite fruits! I chose berries. Chill in refrigerator for 30 minutes and enjoy!
