Do You Resist or Give In?

   So your favorite Gym Rat aka Sandra D ( oh come on you know you love me!)  decided to head to my gym and guess what I saw? A full Panera spread! Yesssssssss,  I gasped too. An assortment of bagels and cream cheese along with a crowd of people surrounding it. I automatically wanted to run and slap all of their hands,  then I remembered going to jail wouldn’t be in my best interest. Ha! I am see the headlines now ” Crazy health nut attacks gym goers in heated battle over bagels”.  I was simply flabbergasted. I had heard the rumors about a certain gym providing such things but I had never witnessed  it. How can an establishment that promotes fitness attempt to sabotage their members. ( let’s be real, I get it, it’s a gimmick). While It is obviously not right, It is something we all have to deal with. It is almost impossible to find healthy food options when we leave the house. How do you avoid temptation?   Do you have any tricks up your sleeve?

How do I fight temptation?

Avoid being hungry!  I eat every two hours. Healthy snacks: fruits, veggies, almonds and mixed nuts.

-Evaluate your diet. Are you eating enough? Plenty of fruits and vegetables? Are you getting enough healthy fats ( olive oil, coconut oil, fish oil, flax oil )? Are you putting in a lot of sugar and refined carbs? Hows your Macronutrient intake? 

Pack smart! Keep a small Ziploc bag of goodies in your purse. I have almonds, peanuts and dehydrated fruit in mine.

-Late night craving? I take plain yogurt and add some berries, raw honey and a few almonds.

– When in doubt text a friend! A healthy support system can make a world of difference.
